Trump's longtime driver sues for thousands of hours of unpaid overtime

Trump's longtime driver sues for thousands of hours of unpaid overtime

According to Bloomberg and several other outlets, the former driver, Noel Cintron, filed the suit in the Manhattan Supreme Court on Monday for 3,300 hours worth of unpaid overtime work in the past six years.

A NY man who said he was Donald Trump's personal driver for more than 20 years sued the US president's company on Monday, claiming he was stiffed out of thousands of hours of overtime pay.

Donald Trump's personal driver for more than 25 years says the billionaire real estate developer didn't pay him overtime and raised his salary only twice in 15 years, clawing back the second raise by cutting off his health benefits.

The Trump Organization said Cintron was always "paid generously and in accordance with the law".

In 2010 he was given his second raise, to $75,000 - but on condition of surrendering his health benefits, which Mr Cintron alleges saved the Organization almost $18,000 per year.

Trump's treatment of his driver reflected "an utterly callous display of unwarranted privilege and entitlement", the suit reads, describing his "exploitation" of Cintron as lacking "even a minimal sense of noblesse oblige".

He was Donald Trump's personal driver for 25 years ― and he's pretty sure Trump took him for a ride. And one, he said, came with an unusual condition - to get a $7,000 pay increase, Cintron was told he had to give up his Trump Organization health insurance.

"Donald Trump has proclaimed himself as a champion of working men and women, but nothing could be further from the truth", Hutcher said in a statement. Just previous year, a supply company claimed they were never paid for paint that was used to re-paint Trump's luxury golf resort.

Lawyers for the Trump Organization did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Cintron claims that he was forced to work "thousands" of hours in overtime, and was not given a "meaningful raise" in over 10 years.

Cintron said he worked as a driver for Trump, his family members and his businesses for more than a quarter century, averaging 50 to 55 hours weekly.

Cintron is suing for about $350,000, Hutcher said, which would cover the unpaid wages, penalties, interest and attorneys' fees.
