Man poisoned by nerve agent regains consciousness

11 July 2018, 01:39 | Glen Norman

The Bristol Dry Gin Micro Distillery apologised to the families of Ms Sturgess and her partner Charlie Rowley - who is now said to be "conscious" after also being exposed to the Russian nerve agent - and claimed the product had been in the pipeline before the latest tragedy near Salisbury. "Charlie is still very unwell and will continue to require specialist, round-the-clock care here at Salisbury District Hospital", the statement said.

The news came as England's chief medical adviser ratcheted up warnings to people living in the area where one person died and another was left critically ill through exposure to the nerve agent.

A woman who died after being poisoned with a nerve agent that also struck a former Russian spy in March must have handled a contaminated item, and tracking it down is key to police investigations, Britain's top counter-terrorism officer said.

Neil Basu told a meeting in Amesbury that police were working on the theory that Dawn Sturgess and Charlie Rowley had found a container housing Novichok.

But it's as good an idea as I can come up with for a practical strategy that could defeat Kavanaugh. It is imperative that judges adhere to the Constitution and resist judicial activism.

Sturgess and Rowley fell ill on June 30. Then London pinned all the blame on Moscow, but Russian Federation repeatedly refuted all allegations about its involvement in the incident.

Tests confirmed that the couple were exposed to the same nerve agent that poisoned the Skripals.

Yulia Skripal, Sergei's daughter, was in a coma for 20 days after she was attacked and was eventually discharged about five weeks after the poisoning.

Mr Basu also said that the "brutal reality" is that he can not say with certainty that there are no traces of nerve agent left anywhere in Wiltshire.

Nobel widow Liu Xia leaves China after 8 years' house arrest
According to Liu Xia's friends, Liu Xia had previously hoped she and Liu Hui could be allowed to leave China together. China sentenced Liu Xiaobo in 2009 to 11 years' imprisonment on charges of inciting subversion of state power.

"The brutal reality, however, is that I can not offer you any such assurances or guarantees at this time".

Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, the head of United Kingdom counter-terrorism policing, which is leading the investigation, said police are looking for a container contaminated with Novichok which the pair are believed to have handled.

The investigation became a murder hunt after the death of Sturgess, a 44-year-old mother of three, who lived in Amesbury, a town near Salisbury. The public should not be alarmed by this.

The company shared photographs of their "Novichok" vodka to their Facebook page on July 7, one week after Ms Sturgess and her partner were rushed to hospital after being posioned.
