China Vows 'Countermeasures' After New US Tariffs Threat: Ministry

US unveils $200 billion list of China imports for tariffs

The president last month asked the U.S. Trade Representative's office to identify US$200 billion of Chinese goods that could be hit with 10 percent tariffs.

The move escalates the trade war between the world's two largest economies.

The tariff list could be released as soon as Tuesday, and likely this week, the report said.

The U.S. said it had no choice but to move forward on the new tariffs after China failed to respond to the administration's concerns over unfair trade practices and Beijing's abuse of American intellectual property, according to two senior officials who spoke to reporters.

Chelsea: Gonzalo Higuain linked with £53m move to Stamford Bridge
Roman Abramovich ought to get this manager mess sorted or Chelsea risk being unprepared for the season ahead. Yes, here we are, with just over a month until the Premier League kicks off again.

Just after midnight on July 6, the United States began collecting 25 percent tariffs on $34 billion in imports from China. China quickly responded by imposing tariffs on $34 billion in US products.

"This is an appropriate response ... to obtain the elimination of China's harmful industrial policies".

The Retail Industry Leaders Association, a lobby group representing the largest United States retailers, said: "The president has broken his promise to bring maximum pain on China, minimum pain on consumers". "This new round of proposed tariffs takes the fight onto yet another level from which it is going to be hard for either side to make a graceful retreat", said Eswar Prasad, former head of the International Monteary Fund's China division.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, China considered the substitution of imports and the overall impact on trade and investment while making up a list of U.S. goods hit by import duties.

PSG make world record bid for former Liverpool ace, Coutinho
The pair clashed last season over penalty taking duties and it is believed that the 26-year-old would rather see Cavani leave. PSG remain at the centre of an investigation by UEFA after they spent nearly £400m on Neymar and Kylian Mbappe last summer.

The President, who blames China and other developing countries for hollowing out the US manufacturing sector, was elected in large part by promising to bring back factory jobs by going to war with trading partners.

The White House has complained that China has used predatory practices in a relentless push to grant Chinese companies an unfair advantage in the industries of the future, including robotics, electric cars and biopharmaceuticals.

Trump has been considering tariffs against China since his officials concluded in March that Beijing violates USA intellectual-property rights, such as by forcing American firms to hand over technology.
