Will The Eagles Take A Chance In The Supplemental Draft?

Will The Eagles Take A Chance In The Supplemental Draft?

The NFL Supplemental Draft usually comes and goes with little fanfare or excitement.

A three-year starter for the Bulldogs at safety, Bryant primarily lined up to the wide side of the formation as a junior with reps deep and over the slot. Faced with some academic issues that might have prevented him from regaining eligibility for his senior season, Beal was compelled to enter the supplemental draft this summer.

At least two national experts don't expect the Lions to participate in the draft. Cornerbacks Sam Beal of Western Michigan and Adonis Alexander of Virginia Tech drew multiple scouts to their pre-draft workouts and play a position at which teams are often scrambling for depth. The other one who had a chance to be drafted was Mississippi State defensive back Brandon Bryant.

Beal and Alexander figure to interest Indianapolis the most. Beal is the first player taken in the supplemental draft since 2015 and the highest player taken in this unique draft since the Browns selected Josh Gordon in the second round in 2012.

Wimbledon 2018 -- Men's quarterfinal matches
Federer ended up with more points won than Anderson in this match, but ultimately the difference came down to two unforced errors. The first hiccup surfaced at the start of the second set with Anderson breaking the Federer serve and ending that run of holds.

With the selection of Beal, the Giants will forfeit their third-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, leaving them with five total picks.

It's been pretty rare for a player to be taken by any team in the Supplemental Draft in recent years.

In other Browns defensive back news, former CFL DB Jordan Holland worked out for the Browns today, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Media. Washington's DB coach, Torrian Gray, previously played and coached at Tech - both with current Tech defensive coordinator Bud Foster - before jumping to the National Football League coaching ranks. Kansas City might take Beal in the second round or hope Alexander falls to the fourth.

Beal joins a Giants defense that allowed the second-most passing yards in 2017 (252.4 per game), though NY was 19th in pass defense DVOA (defense-adjusted value over average), per Football Outsiders. The Texans have two second-round picks in 2019, their own and the Seahawks from the Duane Brown trade.

Nadal fights past Del Porto, Novak next
Nadal was 2-1 down after three sets, but rallied to force a decider, before closing out a 7-5, 6-7 (7), 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 win. Next up for the Spaniard is a blockbuster last four showdowns with Serb Novak Djokovic .

The Player: Beal is another corner with good size and length, measuring at nearly 6-1 and 178 pounds with over a 72-inch wingspan. At 6-1 and 205 pounds, he is undersized for a linebacker, even for one in a Tampa-2, 4-3 defense like the Colts'. In three years at Western Michigan, he garnered 65 tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble.

However, like many tough-minded safeties, Bryant can display that reckless missile mentality where he tries to land a big hit but can be inaccurate in doing so.

Beal has palpable upside at cornerback, with the potential to become a very good starter in the NFL. I don't think he gets out of Round 5. A team that drafts him is banking on what he could be down the road.

The Texans, however, are primed to make a splash in the supplemental draft.

Former UCLA Star Billy Knight Found Dead After Goodbye Message
Unfortunately, Knight couldn't get the help he needed in time, and UCLA fans have to say goodbye to another athlete far too early. Knight was found by fire officials along a Phoenix roadway at approximately 2:45am, local police confirmed in a statement.

Beal's experience in both tight man and off man are valuable to teams. If the Bucs are interested, offering up a late-round pick might be the move for a team that needs corner help immediately.
