In the biggest upset of this year's Wimbledon Championship, Anderson beat world number one Federer in a sprawling five-set epic lasting four hours and 14 minutes.

South Africa's Kevin Anderson will square-off against John Isner.

The Isner-Anderson match was the first Grand Slam men's semifinal to go past 6-all in the deciding set since the 2013 French Open, and the first at Wimbledon since 2001. Isner took the second set tiebreaker 7-6 (5), punctuating it with an ace.

Anderson will play again in the final on Sunday - hopefully there, a victor will be decided in four sets or less. On the pro tour, Isner held the decided edge in their matches with an 8-3 record.

Chris becomes second hurricane of Atlantic season
Chris is located about 245 miles southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and about 470 miles southwest of Cape Race, Newfoundland. On the forecast track, the center of Chris will pass over or near southeastern Newfoundland Thursday afternoon or evening.

The Wimbledon semifinal between Kevin Anderson and John Isner is going to a fifth set.

Isner won the longest match at Wimbledon - or any other tournament - when he beat Nicolas Mahut 70-68 in the fifth set after 11 hours, 5 minutes in 2010.

While one might think that such a closely fought match was an enthralling display of athleticism, as the game teetered back and forth in the fifth set, the opposite was true.

Anderson came through a marathon serving game at 1-1, saving three break points before finally holding serve after an eighth deuce.

The ball was in Kevin Anderson's court when he defeated Roger Federer on Wednesday to book a semifinal spot in the 2018 Wimbledon. However, Melichar and Peschke won the next two games to seal it. Brian Norton was the last South African man to reach the final in 1921.

Given the length of this match, it may well prove hard for Djokovic and Nadal to complete their contest on Friday. Djokovic owns 12 Slam trophies, three from Wimbledon.

Isner was trying to end the longest major title drought - 58 majors - for USA men in tennis history.
