US President Donald Trump has published a letter from Kim Jong-un, in which North Korea's leader voices hopes for a "new future" in bilateral relations.

North Korea's criticism of talks with Pompeo fueled further doubts about whether Trump will ever achieve his goal of "complete denuclearization", much less on the timeline of one to 2-1/2 years set out by various administration officials.
That was the day Secretary of State Mike Pompeo arrived for two days of meetings with top North Korean officials, which ended on a sour note after Pyongyang blasted the US side for issuing a "unilateral and gangster-like demand for denuclearization".
The meeting was to discuss repatriation of the remains of USA troops who died in the Korean War almost 70 years ago, another term agreed upon during the June 12 summit.

On June 20, Trump erroneously said 200 human remains had already "been sent back" from North Korea.
The remains of almost 8,000 USA troops remain unaccounted for on the Korean peninsula, and 5,300 of those bodies are believed to be located somewhere north of the demilitarized zone.
The letter, dated July 6, referred to Trump as "Your Excellency" five times in four sentences but made no mention of the return of remains or North Korea's pledge to begin the process of dismantling its nuclear and missile programs.
According to President Trump, returning the remains of US troops was agreed upon during the Singapore summit.
