The last Blockbuster in Bend Oregon

Alaska's last two Blockbuster stores - one in Anchorage and another in Fairbanks - announced they would officially close on Sunday.

The harsh realities of modern business are that the world only has enough room in it for one Blockbuster Video store, but don't worry: according to Harding, the OR location has no plans to close down anytime soon.

The Oregon store manager told the AP that her location becoming the last in the USA could possibly boost sales, adding that her business was not in danger of closing.

Twitter CEO loses 200,000 followers in fake account purge
He lost just 326,118 followers on Thursday, the day before most accounts saw a drop, and on Friday he regained 5,339 followers. The social-media company warned on Wednesday that its crackdown on fake accounts means users will have fewer followers.

The days of aimlessly walking the aisles of your local Blockbuster every Friday night have been over for years in most parts of the United States. By this year, only a pair in Alaska and the final OR store had endured.

Anchorage Daily News reports the video rental chain has been endangered for several years now - in 2013, there were 13 surviving Blockbuster outlets, but three years later, that number had dwindled to just nine. It's a bit of a destination.

"It's kind of emotional", she said. Blockbuster then peaked in 2004 with an incredible 9,094 stores worldwide ... and then quickly plummeted to declare bankruptcy in 2010.

By 2019 Israeli spacecraft is setting a target for landing on moon
The launch date is set for December; two months later, on February 13, the spacecraft is expected to land on the moon. The Israeli craft will be the smallest to land on the moon, weighing only 1,322 pounds or 600 kilograms.

The Blockbuster stores chugging along up North - including the one that John Oliver's Last Week Tonight donated Russell Crowe-themed movie props to - are closing down. But ultimately, it wasn't enough.

"You would not believe how much business we got just from that memorabilia alone", he said. A Facebook post near the end of June on the Blockbuster Alaska page read, "We see you out there taking selfies in front of our stores, show them to us!" We hope to see you at our stores during the closing, even if it's just to say 'Hello.' What a great time to build your media library and share some Blockbuster memories with us. While some doubt that location will close anytime soon given that it seems to still attract a crowd, it's worth noting that the owners of the Alaska locations have stated that the stores were still considered to be profitable.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey lost 200 000 followers in fake-user purge
A Twitter crackdown on "locked" accounts has lead to some of its most high profile users losing millions of followers. The size of the drops were not directly correlated to the amount of initial followers.
