The moon being eclipsed by the earth's shadow just before it disappeared behind clouds. All of Asia (including India), and Eastern Africa will get to watch the entire eclipse including the two partial lunar eclipse. The most dramatic part of the total blackout of the moon is expected to last almost two hours, at one hour 43 minutes as the orb passes very close to the centre of the Earth's shadow.
The next eclipse to last that long will occur on June 9, 2123, but it will not be visible from Australia.
Skywatchers around much of the world have begun watching a complete lunar eclipse that is the longest of this century which coincides with Mars' closest approach in 15 years.

Pitts said that the "blood moon" phrase was only recently attached to the phenomenon.
Mars was also at its closest point to Earth since 2003 last night and will be over the next few days.
Near to the reddish lunar eclipse, Mars will also be looking fairly spectacular.
