Murren (possibly accidentally) revealed the beginning of sports betting in New Jersey during the press conference announcing MGM's deal to be the official gambling partner of the National Basketball Association.
Elsewhere, during the press conference surrounding their groundbreaking partnership with the NBA, MGM Resorts International CEO Jim Murren casually dropped the bombshell that MGM expects to be accepting wagers from their mobile app within days.
"It's a day-to-day thing", the MGM spokesperson said when asked when the state's Division of Gaming Enforcement is expected to approve playMGM, the casino's sports betting app.
The DraftKings Sportsbook application was released Wednesday and entertained invite-only users while the app undergoes several days of testing. The Stars Group will bring its online and mobile-led betting expertise and experience as one of the world's largest and most licensed online betting and gaming companies to the burgeoning USA online sports betting market, while leveraging the company's well recognized brands, customer trust and loyalty, and established position in New Jersey's online gaming market. This week, it was announced that the casino was the first in the state to offer online sports betting via a partnership with DraftKings.
DraftKings partnered with Malta-based sports betting provider Kambi to help oversee oddsmaking, trading and risk management.

With the DraftKings sports betting option, customers will only be able to place wagers while physically within the borders of New Jersey. MS allows mobile wagering but only on casino premises.
