During a news conference in Helsinki at the time, Trump declined to back the conclusion of the USA intelligence that Russian Federation interfered with the United States presidential election over Putin's denials, though Trump later said when he was back in the U.S. that he misspoke. Senator Rand Paul, one of President Trump's more eager defenders on Russian Federation, jetted into Moscow on Monday in a bid to increase engagement with the country. Trump later walked back the remark and said he trusted the US intelligence community's assessment Moscow did interfere. Republican Senator Lindsey Graham told reporters earlier in the week that he wanted "a sanctions bill from hell".
