Ebola kills 33 in Democratic Republic of Congo
The strategy is the same that was used to contain the previous outbreak in Congo's Equateur province in which more than 3300 people were vaccinated.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo proclaimed the end of the ninth outbreak of the dreaded Ebola virus on Tuesday, July 24, during a press conference in Kinshasa. According to The Associated Press, Health Minister Oly Illunga Kalengatold the media that there are 16 confirmed cases of the haemorrhagic fever, 27 probable cases and 31 suspected ones.
Nearly 1000 people who have had "contact" with the virus have been registered in health zones under surveillance, it said.
A World Health Organization worker administers a vaccination during the launch of a campaign aimed at beating an outbreak of Ebola in the port city of Mbandaka, Democratic Republic of Congo, on 21 May 2018.
So far, 13 cases have been confirmed and three deaths registered. It is not clear whether the new outbreak, more than 2,500 kilometers (1,553 miles) away, is related. Trade activities between the countries result in frequent cross-border movement. "Teams are conducting investigations on the ground to identify the contacts of the confirmed cases, including health workers", he says.
Health workers will need to ensure that the vaccines remain refrigerated throughout the supply chain: a tall order in under-developed regions.
"Since we are coming out of another Ebola outbreak, we have kept staff and equipment in place", said Dr Matshidiso Moeti, WHO Regional Director for Africa in a WHO statement: "This allows us to have a head start in response to this cluster". Scientists have to confirm that the Zaire species of Ebola is the cause of the outbreak. The area comprises one million displaced people and shares borders with neighbouring countries of Rwanda and Uganda.
Despite that Ebola is never an easy illness to combat, the current outbreak is much more hard than previous ones primarily because of the location in which it appeared.

Strange ‘rogue planet’ travels through space alone
The "rogue" object is not attached to any star, and is the first of its kind to be discovered using a radio telescope from Earth. Now, as stated in the new research, it is thought that the cosmic object is a planet, with an enormously strong magnetic field.
