SOCIAL MEDIA SPOTLIGHT: Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Sits Down with Sean Hannity

Twitter Gives a Very Bad and Unsatisfying Explanation for Why It Won’t Ban Alex Jones

Google has not said why the Infowars app, which offers live streams and articles, was not removed in its app store as part of the actions.

"We didn't suspend Alex Jones or Infowars yesterday", Dorsey said in a series of tweets late Tuesday.

The moves by Apple, Facebook and YouTube shut down key distribution channels that had given Jones easy access to millions of internet users.

Jones is now facing a raft of defamation lawsuits, including multiple suits from the families of Sandy Hook victims. When users violate these policies repeatedly, like our policies against hate speech and harassment or our terms prohibiting circumvention of our enforcement measures, we terminate their accounts.

Manchester United aim to defy Mourinho's doubts in Premier League opener
United finished a distant second in England's top flight as rivals Manchester City stormed to the title with a record 100-point haul.

Dorsey's comments came the day after he announced that he would not take down Jones' personal account or his Infowars account ― even though almost every other major social media platform did so in recent days.

Six families of the victims have sued Jones for defamation. When asked about this questionable decision, Facebook's News Feed director John Hegeman stated, "I guess just for being false that doesn't violate the community standards". And in doing so we eschew real discourse, the kind that takes these problematic claims like many of Jones' to task, for tribalism and stubbornness.

Jack Dorsey isn't bowing to public pressure.

The right to free speech does not include the right to harass and persecute innocent people, as Jones has done numerous times - including his attempts to target survivors of the Parkland school shooting. In June, The Washington Post reported that Dorsey, in an attempt to assuage conservative critics who think his platform is biased against them, took a private dinner with Republican leaders and conservative commentators in May.

UK urges restraint over disagreement between Saudi Arabia and Canada
But Canada has stood firm, with Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland insisting it would defend human rights around the world. Canadian authorities said they are " seriously concerned " about Saudi Arabia's freeze of new trade between the countries.

To discuss the decision, Dorsey chose to give a rare media interview - but made the perplexing decision to sit down with Fox News' Sean Hannity.

Removing the hate-mongering Alex Jones from his platforms is a huge step forward in the fight against fake news.

"We carefully review content on our platforms and products for violations of our terms and conditions, or our content policies", a Google spokesperson told BuzzFeed News. Get started by checking out these guidelines and soon you'll find the Care2 community signing up to support you.
