Superstar Brad Pitt is denying estranged-wife Angelina Jolie's claim he's a deadbeat dad and says he's paid more than $9 million in child support.

Following Tuesday's filing, a spokesperson for Jolie told People the actress' latest court filing asking for Pitt to pay more child support "is to provide closure to the marriage in a way that clears a path toward the next stage of their lives and allows her and Brad to recommit as devoted co-parents to their children".

In the documents, Pitt's lawyers also said Jolie's claims regarding child support were a "thinly-veiled effort to manipulate media coverage".

In fact, they claim in the papers, Pitt has "previously loaned [Jolie] $US8 million ($A10.7 million) to assist her in purchasing her current residence and has paid $US1.3 million ($A1.7 million) in bills for the benefit of [Jolie] and the minor children".
