Earlier this week, the St. Louis County Department of Public Health recorded its first human case of West Nile Virus for the year, and "Today in St. Louis" set to find out the age-old question: Just what can you do to prevent further spread of mosquitos?

Mosquito pools in every county in New Jersey except for Passaic have tested positive for the virus.

Cases generally tend to spike during the summer and fall months, between June and September, when activity is the most common.

The Health Department said the public can assist in identifying areas with water which could become potential breeding sites for the mosquitos, which lay their eggs in water. In severe cases, the virus can cause paralysis or death.
