Roger Stone Associate Reportedly Held in Contempt of Court for Refusal to Testify for Mueller Grand Jury

Stone I wouldn't testify against Trump

Kristin Davis, a former upscale-prostitution-ring operator once known as the "Manhattan Madam", is expected to testify before a grand jury in Washington, D.C., Friday in connection to special counsel Robert Mueller's probe into Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election. Miller refused to appear before a grand jury Friday in Washington.

Miller did not appear for the grand jury, which prompted U.S. District Chief Judge Beryl Howell to hold him in contempt during a closed court hearing on Friday, said Paul Kamenar, one of his attorneys.

Although previous challenges to Mueller's legitimacy have failed, Miller's attorney, Paul Kamenar, argued that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein did not have the authority to appoint someone with sweeping powers like those given to Mueller, saying such powers can only be granted to US attorneys approved by the Senate. Mueller's team has spent months questioning witnesses about Stone, including Stone's associates.

He contacted Erich Fitzgerald, a paleontologist at the Museums Victoria in Melbourne, which announced the find on Thursday. The site is a veritable fossil hotspot, as noted by Phys.org , and it once again lived up to its reputation.

Stone, a longtime associate of President Trump's, met with a Russian offering dirt on Hillary Clinton in 2016. When she ran for governor in 2010, Stone ran her campaign.

That former associate, Andrew Miller, is now facing contempt charges.

Kamenar said that some powers given to the special counsel, including the ability to indict foreign actors, exceed those given to ordinary attorneys, who must be confirmed by the Senate.

He added: "We play against a team that invest more than us". "We thought maximum 60 minutes but he managed (more than) 80. The talented young Belgian spent last season on loan at Valencia and got the surprise start in this one.

Stone, who has denied any wrongdoing, has previously said that eight of his associates have been contacted by Mueller but that the special counsel's team has not contacted him. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he hopes to have President Donald Trump's nominee confirmed to replace retired Justice Anthony Kennedy before the new court session begins October 1.

Mueller's outreach may mean he is focusing in part on whether Stone may have had advance knowledge of material detrimental to Trump's 2016 Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton that US intelligence agencies have concluded was obtained by Russian Federation through hacking. Kamenar said his client planned to appeal the contempt ruling in hope that the U.S. Supreme Court will eventually hear the case.

Miller's lawyer had sought to quash the subpoena.
