Like numerous assorted presidential hangers-on who populated the White House in the early days of Trump's administration, her responsibilities there were never entirely clear.
Manigault Newman does not specify in her book, which is due to be released on Tuesday, whether she heard Trump using the slur or whether she saw footage of him using it.
In it, she paints a damning picture of President Donald Trump, including claiming without evidence that tapes exist of him using the N-word as he filmed his The Apprentice reality series, on which she co-starred.
White House press secretary Sarah Sanders said: 'This book is riddled with lies and false accusations.
"It's pretty clear from that recording that John Kelly came in and said 'This is the end, we want you to leave, '" she said.
Soon after making that statement, she entered the White House as one of Trump's longest-serving aides, given an office, an assistant and the highest salary afforded an administration staffer.
After playing a portion of the tape where Kelly describes what would happen should she depart the administration on "friendly" terms, Manigault-Newman called it "very obviously a threat". "So yes I recorded myself and I have no regret about it". "But when he talks that way, the way he does on this tape, it confirms that he is truly a racist". And things getting ugly for me, and damage to my reputation, that is downright criminal.
Manigault Newman said in the book that she had not personally heard the recordings.
"If I did not have this recording, people would still believe the false, incredible story that I was running around the White House", she explained.
She recounts how Trump battled to have a tanning bed installed when he moved into the White House.
The president was slammed last year for saying that there was "hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides" in the wake of the rally, which left 32-year-old Heather Heyer dead.

Little did she know that she would become a likely candidate for that list after losing her position at The White House. USA Today reports that Donald Trump has called his former Director of African American Outreach, a "low life".
