PGA Championship 2018 Jordan Spieth finds ball in hazard angrily hurls it back in disgustMore
Crowds eager for an up close and personal look got their fill Saturday.
But watch him. Watch how he sinks a putt on Bellerive's 8th hole, the ruckus from Tiger Woods's birdie on No. 9 still dissipating. But Koepka was simply immovable at the top of the leader board as he answered with a 66 that included a half-dozen birdies and kept victory just out of reach for everyone else. It's easy to label Koepka the jock, the slow-twitch muscle, the bore-but that's incomplete. Keep playing at this level and go into next year playing with confidence.
The 42-year-old certainly did not lack for pep to start his third round, carding birdies on his opening two holes to send a jolt of electricity through the parkland layout. And then he simply powered himself to two closing 66s, as nobody could catch him. "Minus a couple of tee shots, I had a chance to win this thing with what felt like not my A-game", Spieth said after finishing at eight-under 272.
Adam Scott was poised to pull off a successful sneak attack at the PGA Championship on Sunday, quietly hanging around the top of the leaderboard while all the attention was elsewhere.
"Not for a while, no", Woods said. "So I had to figure this out on my own and it has been really hard, a lot harder than people think". "And when a guy's doing that and hitting it straight, and as good a putter as he is, it's tough to beat".
We can't be sure about the fish and chips, but Woods did indeed end the day four behind in a tie for sixth.
He played 29 holes Saturday, including 11 holes of his second round. I didn't know what swing I was going to use either. I had no speed. My putting was okay.
Woods missed most of past year so his charge up the list just behind those two was impressive given home much less time he had to earn points, but it also made it all or nothing in terms of qualifying despite his impressive effort.
Woods is supposed to be a throwback, a great. All it needed was one more revolution.
The 42-year-old missed from seven feet for birdie on the first but holed from three feet on the second and nearly holed his tee shot on the third to set up another gain and close within two shots of the lead.
"It's been a year where I've shown glimpses of what I can do but I just haven't done it often enough", McIlroy said. Now, it's a time to imagine something spectacular. And the more he talks, the more the machine sounds mildly human. "And that's what you have, and that's what's going to make this event very exciting". But three of those are majors, and he has a prestigious European Tour victory as well - along with two triumphs at the Dunlop Phoenix Open.
Koepka can tap home and win the title, with Scott yet to even hit the green.
"I was pretty ticked at the British Open; I had the lead there".
Koepka is the first man to win two majors in the same calendar year since Jordan Spieth won the Masters and U.S. Open in 2015.
Woods and Koepka played nine holes of a practice round on Wednesday, and the 14-time major champion knew what he was up against.
Three-time major victor Jordan Spieth finished in a tie for 12th at 8 under after a 66 on Sunday. It really is. Hopefully I can stay healthy. "You (fans) are awesome, first off". I mean, he becomes a contender.
Justin Thomas put up a valiant defense of the Wanamaker on Sunday, but ultimately ceded the trophy to its new holder, Brooks Koepka. He hit hard and long and accurate on a course that played wet and slow.
"He just stood behind me and was like, "yup, that's perfect". He left at least two strokes on the back nine, and an argument could be made that he could have been six better than he ended up. Does it matter? It was impossible to look away. Or maybe it was the other way around-Koepka's party, Tiger crashing.

So I see him backstage, we end up both at the Soho House, and he sat at my table, and I had my big ring on, because I was married. However, when they returned, they didn't resume to regularly scheduled programming; they started talking about his new album, Ye.
