Arsenal boss Unai Emery has played Granit Xhaka and Matteo Guendouzi in the heart of his side this season and it looks as though Torreira will have to wait for a chance for his first Premier League start.

Ozil appears to be carrying a hangover from the 2018 World Cup which resulted in him quitting the Germany national team citing racism and discrimination.

'His process is his process, ' Emery said.

"[We get on] very well", he said ahead of Saturday's visit to Newcastle. We are going to work with four players.

With Ozil having retired from global football, Emery has had a prolonged opportunity to work with his highest-profile and best-paid player over this past fortnight and is adamant that they do have a strong relationship.

Emery discussed how the experienced defender has progressively improved since his time in Spain, highlighting just why he remains an integral part of his plans at Arsenal. I want to push them, I want to be demanding to prepare this match - Mesut the same'. After two weeks, after two months and now, I can say that I am very happy with him because he is 32 years old but I think physically, with his performances with us in matches, he is playing with a very good level. I look at him with the focus totally here.

Emery insists he has had no talks about Gazidis leaving.

Gazidis made the decision for Emery to succeed Arsene Wenger, having overseen a restructure at the club by bringing in head of relations Raul Sanllehi from Barcelona and former Borussia Dortmund scout Sven Mislintat as head of recruitment.

'Every conversation with me is speaking about us, ' Emery said on Gazidis.
