A Michigan man recently learned that a rock he's been using as a doorstop is a meteorite worth $100,000

Images of the meteorite were shared by the Central Michigan University.

A man in the USA received a rock as a gift in 1988 from a farmer in 1988, at that point of time he probably didn't think much of it. But imagine if a rock used for such purposes fetched you more than $100,000 (over Rs.70 lakhs in INR). While touring the property, the man spotted the rock propping open a door and asked the farmer what it was. However, she has never examined a rock that has turned out to be an official space rock, until now.

After living a humble life as a 10 kilogram (22 pound) doorstop in a local farm, the space rock is now getting the attention it deserves.

Geology faculty member Mona Sirbescu who examined it under X-ray fluorescence said it was the most valuable specimen she ever held.

Why Arsenal’s 5-1 win is "deceitful", Lacazette
"We've started doing it recently this season so it will help us adjust to that in our training session". We take a look at the three major reasons which made Arsenal perform the way they did.

A man in MI will soon be richer by thousands of dollars - thanks to a meteorite he had been using as a doorstop for 30 years.

The man continued to use it for that objective over the decades, but upon learning that people were finding and selling small pieces of meteorites, he chose to have it analyzed.

The farmer told him it was a meteorite, that it was part of the property and he could have it. Weighing 22 pounds, it's the sixth-largest recorded find in MI - and potentially worth $100,000, according to CMU. This rock is not only a space rock but also the sixth-largest recorded discovery in MI.

That composition is rare, and the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C.is reportedly considering acquiring the rock.

Mark Ruffalo 'Fired' for Spoiling 'Avengers 4' Title
Then, Anthony and Joe Russo took to Twitter to let Ruffalo know he had been fired after this latest mishap. That was "off the record" homey. "Mark, you're fired", read the tweet of the @Russo_Brothers account.

The meteorite fell to Earth sometime in the 1930s. In the morning, the farmer and his father found the crater and dug out the still-warm meteorite.

Now, the space rock has been named Edmore meteorite and is waiting for a new and permanent home.

"What typically happens with these at this point is that meteorites can either be sold and shown in a museum or sold to collectors and sellers looking to make a profit", Sirbescu said. Additional tests on the meteorite are now being performed, but both the Smithsonian and a mineral museum in ME have already shown interest in acquiring the meteorite, according to the AP.
