Kevin Tway won the Safeway Open in California

Tway, who said his victory had probably reduced his father to tears, beat Ryan Moore and Brandt Snedeker to claim the title in Napa, northern California.

Tway, the 30-year-old son of Greg Norman's 1986 US PGA Championship nemesis Bob Tway, triumphed from Moore with a 10-foot birdie putt at the third play-off hole after Snedeker was eliminated at the first. Tway and Moore then repeated their birdies on the same hole before the 30-year old, son of former pro Bob - an eight-time victor, made another birdie on the 10th hole to edge out Moore and claim the win. "I made some birdies and gave me a little bit of cushion for tomorrow, which will be really important because tomorrow's supposed to be tougher than today, so every shot is really important coming down the stretch".

Hurricane Michael heads for FL; Means more rain for WNC
The hurricane is expected to be the most powerful storm to strike the southern USA state's panhandle in at least a decade. Kay Ivey warned of power outages and other problems, and forecasters said spinoff tornadoes would be a threat.

Snedeker was not as sharp as he had been his opening two days, but caught fire in the end to surge to 16-under-par that positions him for a victory in the PGA Tour's season-opening event.

His retreat let the pack back into contention in what turned into a wild finish in conditions that started out extremely windy before abating by the final few holes. "It sucks right now". Not going to let 9 bad holes make me forget about the other 63.I am going to get that 10th win soon!

The Big Number: Millions of flu vaccines will be offered this season
Getting back into the flu shot specifically, there's already plenty of skepticism surrounding this one form of vaccination alone. These groups are at particular risk from flu and vaccination is the best protection we have against an unpredictable virus.

"I was just trying to put the ball in the fairway, which was very hard", Tway said. Making three birdies is pretty good. "I lost my swing, hit several bad shots and missed some butts".
