Pixel Slate Marks Google’s Return To Tablets But Without Android

10 October 2018, 04:56 | Casey Mitchell

The company on Tuesday introduced the Google Home Hub, a smart speaker with a display.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL were officially unveiled at an event today in the US.

Google has sold an estimated 7 million Pixels over the past two years, nearly imperceptible next to the 3.6 billion phones shipped during that time, according to IDC.

Embracing the shift to 18:9, the Pixel 3 differs from the Pixel 3 XL in that it doesn't have a notch in the design.

The other major product announced was Google Home Hub, a device that's something of a hybrid between a smart speaker and a tablet, which is created to sit at the center of what Google repeatedly called "the thoughtful home" (it avoided use of the word "smart").

Shares of Alphabet barely moved on the announcements.

The messaging at Google's hardware event takes a different approach.

Hurricane Michael heads for FL; Means more rain for WNC
The hurricane is expected to be the most powerful storm to strike the southern USA state's panhandle in at least a decade. Kay Ivey warned of power outages and other problems, and forecasters said spinoff tornadoes would be a threat.

But the main features aren't hardware, they're software, and Google has gone all out in new software. You'll also be able to share albums based on these photos.

Expanding geographic distribution should provide a small boost to the Pixel line-up. These are all improvements over the Pixel 2 range launched year.

The Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL will be the first Pixel phones to launch in France at the same time as the US, FrAndroid explains.

The Slate is available in the United States, the U.K. and Canada.

A new artificial intelligence tool sure to generate buzz among consumers also could be helpful.

Lastly, both phones get a new color called Not Pink.

Right off the bat, most of the hardware rumors are true.

International Monetary Fund upgrades outlook on Russian Federation as economy recovers
Core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as energy, will vary from country to country, it said. Growth forecasts for emerging markets were given a more severe haircut by the Washington-based lender.

With the Pixel 3, Google has finally added Qi wireless charging. This comes with the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL right out of the box, but the entire Pixel family will receive this feature next month, according to Google.

For those wanting a compact powerful device, the Pixel 3 certainly will be that. Think of it as Google's equivalent of Apple Night Shift. All of that, as well as the dual custom-tuned forward-facing stereo speakers and two noise-canceling mics, is powered via a 48Wh 12-hour-rated battery with fast charging enabled.

Last year's Pixel 2 arrived with bugs that prompted user complaints about unwanted noises during calls, a crashing camera app and an unexpected screen tint.

It is likely no coincidence that Google is launching its Hub just two days before Amazon launches the second generation of its Show.

In real teams that might not make a huge difference to your day-to-day experience with the Pixel 3, but as we progress into 2019, this phone might begin to feel a little more dated.

Prices start at around £549 for an entry-level version of the Slate with a Intel Celeron Processor, 4GB RAM and 32GB storage and tops out a around £1549 if you opt for Intel's eigth-gen i7 Processor, 16GB RAM and 256GB of storage. The company is launching its new Pixel Slate, a premium Chromebook tablet that's supposed to compete with the likes of Microsoft's Surface Pro and Apple's iPad Pro.

One of the major disappoints of the new Google Home Hub, however, is the omission of a camera for Google Duo video calls. Home Hub is launching in the United States, the U.K. and Australia.

He got a fly out to deep right-center, a slow chopper to third base and then fanned Hicks looking on a slider at the knees. But for the people in here.it's just like, 'Yeah, there's a reason we're doing this and that's what matters.' I get it.

The nod to privacy concerns comes as Google and other big USA tech companies try to bounce back from recent data breach scandals. Other tweaks to Chrome OS includes a customized app launcher with Google's integrated machine learning technology.
