10 October 2018, 03:27 | Casey Mitchell
Microsoft Reportedly Close to Buying Obsidian Entertainment
According to Kotaku, Microsoft is now in the process of buying the Fallout: New Vegas developer Obsidian to add to their evergrowing list of studios. Obsidian games are also known to be often riddled with bugs at launch and perhaps Microsoft's Quality Assurance department can lend a hand with that particular issue.
Sources close to the matter speaking with Kotaku said the deal is "90%" finished.
Nikki Haley resigns as Trump's UN ambassador: US media
Haley's parents, interestingly enough, are going through a foreclosure process on their own home after owing more than $700,000. Haley will leave the White House at the end of 2018, and Trump said that he has " many people" vying for her vacated role.
When questioned for comment, a Microsoft spokesperson said, "We do not comment on rumors or speculation".
"Unfortunately, we don't comment on rumors or speculation other than to say that the Rumours album by Fleetwood Mac still holds up", an Obsidian spokesperson told Kotaku. As recently as June of this year, executives at Microsoft went on a spending spree and acquired Ninja Theory, Undead Labs, Compulsion Games, and Playground Games.
A person familiar with goings-on at Microsoft said the company has been looking to bolster its PC development, which makes the PC-focused Obsidian a ideal fit. A quick look at Obsidian's resume reveals that they have made some of the greatest RPGs of all time. Obsidian became noted for work on role-playing games, including Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Neverwinter Nights 2, Dungeon Siege III, and South Park: The Stick of Truth.
Obviously, a deal with Microsoft would put such projects back into play again.
