Pompeo's meeting signaled a change in tone from the recent talks, although there were no immediate indications the secretary of state had arranged for a second major summit between Trump and Kim.
Trump emphasized the rapport he says he's developed with the North Korean leader as they negotiate over U.S. demands that Kim abandon his country's nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs.
Earlier in the day at the White House, Trump also said that "three or four locations" are being considered by his staff, and once again stressed his vision of North Korea's economic development following complete denuclearization.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has expressed "discontent" with an inter-Korean military pact reached during last month's summit, South Korea's foreign minister said on Wednesday, in a rare disclosure of disagreement with its US ally.

However, during another rally in West Virginia last week the president said he received "beautiful letters" from the North Korean leader and that they "fell in love".
"I'd love to remove them, but we have to get something for doing it", Trump said.

South Koreans are deeply divided along ideological lines and many people still harbor deep anger over North Korea's 1950 attack that started the Korean War, killing and injuring millions.
The U.N. World Food Program said on Tuesday that the supply of food remained precarious in North Korea, where one in five children is stunted by malnutrition.
