What’s at Stake for the Affordable Care Act as Open Enrollment Begins for 2019

Members of New Hampshire's Democratic congressional delegation are urging residents to carefully consider their health insurance options under the Affordable Care Act. The federal government does not have people call to sell policies. It allows consumers to compare health insurance plans based on key factors including providers, coverage and price.

People can check the SCC's Bureau of Insurance's site for a list of carriers that have received approval to offer ACA health benefit plans to people on and off the federal marketplace. Open enrollment in ACA plans lasts until December 15.

Two companies, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana and Vantage Health Plan, are offering a total of 46 individual marketplace plans in the state for 2019. Even those who have looked before should visit www.healthcare.gov to see what is available.

Enrollees can choose one of eight Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield of DE plans that are available for purchase in 2019 or they will be automatically re-enrolled in a plan that is similar to the one they now have.

Australian man awarded empty Sydney home after taking 'adverse possession'
A tenant was living in the property at the time, and she remained there for a further 51 years until she died in April 1998. Property developer Bill Gertos was visiting a client when he came across the empty house at 6 Malleny Street in 1998.

But Castor said signing up for health insurance will be more hard this year because President Donald Trump and Republicans in Congress have made "massive cuts" to outreach and enrollment programs. The state has only one provider.

Americans with incomes between 138 percent and 400 percent of the federal poverty level may qualify for federal subsidies to help pay for health insurance. That cost drops to $201 when subsidies and tax credits are applied. They will also have options for longer duration short term health insurance plans that were not available previous year.

The state department of financial services sent a message to insurance providers Thursday, reminding them that some plans that are legal under federal law are not legal in NY.

"These plans are intended as fillers when you're in between jobs".

Plane Crash: Lion Air Black Box Found
Specialist ships and remotely operated underwater vehicles have been deployed to search for the plane's hull and flight recorders. Indonesia's military chief says a massive search effort has identified the possible seabed location of the crashed Lion Air jet.

She added, "This year the president and Republicans in Congress have made it more hard for hardworking families to sign up for affordable health care due to their sabotage, including massive cuts for national outreach and enrollment efforts". In a silver plan, the insurer pays about 70 percent of medical costs and the consumer pays about 30 percent, up to a maximum annual out-of-pocket cap of $7,350 for an individual and $14,700 for a family.

No company offering an ACA-compliant plan will ask if a person has a pre-existing condition. With that federal fine scheduled to vanish in January, this year's marketplaces will furnish evidence for a long-simmering debate: How much of the nation's gains lately in health coverage have happened because of the law's insurance mandate, and will coverage tumble without it?

Financial help is available for individuals with annual incomes up to $48,560; for a family of four the income limit is $100,400.

But there are local groups still available to help including Foundation Communities and Enroll ATX. "Consumers now have the freedom to shop outside of the ACA for health insurance they can afford without fear of a tax fine". If you don't have coverage for 2019, you'll be on your own for major health care costs, but you won't be penalized at tax time.
