Amazon may decide to create two HQ2 locations, instead of just one

According to a new report, the leading candidates for Amazon's second North American headquarters are Dallas, New York City, and a DC suburb.
Amazon's request for proposals, made public in September 2017, left open the door that the company could entertain multiple offers, or opt to select none at all, with a disclaimer at the very end of the eight-page document that started the company's HQ2 search.
Things got more interesting when Mike Grella, Amazon's director of economic development, posted on Twitter: "Memo to the genius leaking info about Crystal City, VA as #HQ2 selection".
The long-awaited decision has yet to be made, but the Journal, citing a person familiar with the decision making process, reported that the internet retail titan will choose two locations for their newest headquarters. The company had promised to bring 50,000 high-paying jobs and $5 billion in construction to HQ2's home.
Under the new plan, the e-commerce giant will split the workforce with 25,000 employees in each city, the WSJ report https://www.wsj.com/articles/amazon-plans-to-split-hq2-evenly-between-two-cities-1541446552?mod=searchresults&page=1&pos=3 said.
Amazon has not confirmed either report. Dallas-Fort Worth ranked No. 12. Officials aren't turning down the hyperbole any time soon - New York Governor Cuomo recently joked that he'd change his name to "Amazon Cuomo" if it guaranteed a headquarters in the state. Splitting the project in two could also ease concerns over housing and traffic in host cities, the Journal reported. The aging NY subway system has several issues the city is working to fix.
