Driver charged in toddler deaths in Brooklyn crosswalk kills herself

The driver who ran a red light and killed two young children crossing the street with their mothers was found dead in her Staten Island apartment on Tuesday. Authorities say pills and a note were found nearby.

Bruns was facing manslaughter charges after hitting the two children and their mothers in Park Slope in March.

Prosecutors said a doctor had told Bruns to not drive, and her driving record revealed several past violations, including speeding and running red lights. She had been due back in court November 20.
