Boult hat-trick fuels New Zealand's win over Pakistan

SPORTSpinner Ajaz Patel is on standby for Todd Astle in the ODI squad after a handy international debut in the first T20 against Pakistan
Just three days after flying into the United Arab Emirates from paternity leave, Boult became New Zealand's third hat-trick taker in one-day worldwide cricket to spark a 47-run victory over Pakistan in the first ODI. I don't think that's his job, his job is to bat.
The Pakistan innings got off to a disastrous start with Trent Boult taking a hat-trick in his second over.
Pakistan had dominated the first hour of play with Shaheen Afridi and Shadab, both ending up with four wickets, but it was the tail of New Zealand batting that propelled them to a defendable total of 266.
Boult becomes the fifth New Zealander to claim an ODI hat-trick, joining Shane Bond, Emily Drumm, Julie Harris and Danny Morrison.
A 130-run fourth-wicket partnership between Ross Taylor and Tom Latham resurrected the innings before Latham was dismissed for 68 early in the 42nd over.
Latham, who boasts an exceptional record in Asia, joined Taylor at the crease as the duo set about hitting over half of their team's total.
He dismissed Latham leg-before and did the same to Henry Nicholls (nought) the very next ball, before removing De Grandhomme two balls later when he edged to first slip without scoring.
New Zealand will welcome pace spearhead Trent Boult who missed the Twenty20 series due to personal reasons while also adding batsman George Worker and spinner Ajaz Patel (as a cover for injured Todd Astle) in the squad.
"If you look at our losses a lot of them were in New Zealand where conditions were different and we lost due to top order failure where we need to improve", said Sarfraz.
The victory gave New Zealand a 1-0 lead in the three-match series and extended their ODI winning streak against Pakistan to 12 matches dating back to December 2014.
