Breaking Bad Is Getting a Feature Film

Jesse Pinkman and Walter White. Frank Ockenfels AMC
The previous report noted that production would commence in New Mexico next month.
In the Breaking Bad series finale, Cranston's character, meth kingpin Walter White, apparently died by gunshot while freeing his assistant Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) from neo-Nazis holding him captive.
Details about the project are pretty scarce at this stage, but the movie is expected to be a two-hour feature - although it's not yet known whether Gilligan will be making a TV movie or a theatrically-released film. Nobody's sure if it's a prequel, a continuation of Aaron Paul's narrative or something completely parallel and only tangentially related.
Work is slated to begin in a few weeks in Albuquerque, New Mexico on a film tentatively titled Greenbrier, the New Mexico Film Office confirmed to the Albuquerque Journal, and run through February.
According to The Albuquerque Journal - relaying reports from the New Mexico Film Office - filming is scheduled to begin later this month on a Breaking Bad flick, which is now going under the possibly temporary name of "Greenbrier".
That same source also reports that the title is now "Greenbriar" and that production in the Duke City is scheduled to kick off in mid-November and run through until early February.
The plot - a kidnapped man on a quest for freedom - sounds an very bad lot like Jesse (Aaron Paul) in the final season, when he was kidnapped by Neo Nazis.
Breaking Bad is widely regarded as one of the greatest television series ever made, winning 16 Primetime Emmy Awards and even entering the Guinness World Records as the most critically acclaimed show of all time in 2013.
This would be the first project that Vince Gilligan would be working on with Sony Pictures Television after he signed a three year deal with them back in July. Better Call Saul executive producers Mark Johnson and Melissa Bernstein are rumored to be involved, too. Would it reveal that Bryan Cranston's Walter White became reanimated and is now leading a zombie apocalypse?
Breaking Bad - the movie - is coming.
In the wake of the series finale, Gilligan spoke at length about Jesse's final moments, pondering whether Jesse really did make it out alive or if he was caught and captured.
