Rizzo: Nats made offer to Bryce Harper late in season

Will the Marlins trade catcher J.T. Realmuto? Keith Srakocic AP
The offer was worth roughly $300 million for 10 years with no opt-outs, per the Washington Post'sChelsea Janes.
"We've had conversations and we utilized our exclusivity to negotiate with him late in the season through when he became eligible to sign with a team, " Washington Nationals general manager Mike Rizzo told reporter Tuesday, according to ESPN.
Janes added, "Important on Harper: Both sides considered this a respectful offer". The 26-year-old superstar can field offers from other teams before deciding where he wants to play next season.
The Yankees are certainly known for making big splashes in the free agent market, so they've always been tentatively mentioned as a possible destination for Harper if he does decide to leave Washington DC. But if they do, it nearly certainly won't be that deal, and Mike Rizzo acknowledged Tuesday his team can not afford to wait around.
Harper was publicly reminiscent and nostalgic on September 26, the Nationals' final home game of the season and reportedly the day he received the team's new offer.
Don't dismiss this news as Harper out-and-out rejecting the Nationals. "I think we have a good strategy in place, a good plan in place, and we have started to begin that process and we will see where it takes us". For the moment, it seems he and Boras will explore options elsewhere. According to reports, the Nats' offer is now off the table, but the team is still open to a deal.
FA appeal against decision to clear Mourinho
Xavier alleges Mourinho said said "Vós sois uns filhos da puta" twice, which translates as "sons of a whore". Mourinho was alleged to have said something "abusive and/or insulting and/or improper" to the TV camera.
Importantly for any future negotiations, Harper's deal would not be the largest in baseball history by average annual value. Zack Greinke ($34 million), David Price ($31 million) and Clayton Kershaw ($31 million) all got more.
The Nationals were willing to make a strong commitment.
