'Multiple injuries' in California bar shooting: Fire department
09 November 2018, 10:47 | Glen Norman
Police have identified Ian David Long, 28, as the suspected gunman.
Dean said police had previous run-ins with Long, including a call to his home where he was acting irrationally.
The police called in a team of mental health specialists who decided that Long did not qualify to be involuntarily detained for mental health evaluation under state law.
Long's only other contact with authorities came after a traffic collision and after he alleged he was the victim of a violent encounter in 2015 at another bar in Thousand Oaks, the sheriff said.
The shooting is the latest in a long list of mass shootings in the US.
Dean said the slain deputy was on the phone with his wife before telling her he had to go respond to a scene. "There is blood everywhere and the suspect is part of that". A 29-year veteran of the force, he had been looking to retire in the "next year or so", Dean said.
Seargent Ron Helus of Ventura County Sheriff's Office was the first law enforcement official to arrive at the Borderline Wednesday night. It was not clear whether he killed himself or was killed by officers, Dean said.
Sheriff John Dean recounted what Helus had told his wife, telling the LA Times: 'He said, "Hon, I got to go, I love you".
"Great bravery shown by police".
The U.S. Marine Corps issued a statement extending "its deepest condolences to the families of the victims in this senseless tragedy". She said everyone yelled "Get down!" and then it was silent for a few seconds.
"We must find a way to stop the senseless, and many times preventable killings that are robbing our country of innocent lives", he tweeted.
Dozens of lives were saved during Wednesday night'sCalifornia bar shooting thanks to a hero who smashed a window to help people escape. I want gun control.
"I was confused because we didn't have any balloons".
One witness said there were multiple shots fired inside the bar. When asked who he was protecting, he told reporters that "it was whoever was right there behind the counter and then in that close vicinity to the front door".
Von Molt said she and others from nearby California Lutheran University often gathered on Wednesday night to line dance to country music.
In social media posts, Molly Mauer said she was at Borderline and also survived Vegas.
When the gunshots paused, Wennerstorm said he knew the shooter must be reloading, and he didn't waste the moment. "Pop pop pop", he said. I look up. The security guard. was shot, he was down. The gunman was throwing smoke grenades all over the place. "I was concerned because I knew he had been in the military".
Many people had minor injuries, including some that came from the attempt to flee, Dean said.
"We're going to pursue the leads that develop from that evidence, wherever they take us, to identify any possible motivation, paint a picture of the frame of mind of the subject, identify any possible radicalization", Delacourt said Thursday.
The body of the slain sheriff's officer was taken by motorcade from the hospital to the coroner's office yesterday.
AMD shows Zen 2-based 7nm EPYC Rome CPU in action
AMD's Mark Papermaster says the new Zen 2 cores offer double the throughput of Zen and twice the floating point performance. We have 2x performance per socket compared to the previous-gen EPYC processor, and this is an insane leap in performance.
