Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez likens her election win to America's historic moon landing

Newly elected lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) apparently thinks that her Election Day victory in early November of this year belongs in the same category of accomplishments as the U.S.'s moon landing and the establishment of civil rights in this country.

Incoming Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez weighed-in this week on the Senate's ongoing fiscal fight over President Trump's border wall; saying $0.00 should be allocated for the Commander-in-Chief's signature campaign promise. We went to the moon, we electrified the nation, we established civil rights, we enfranchised the country.

"We've done it. We've dug deep", she added.

"This is not just about a Green New Deal", she intoned. Ocasio-Cortez, who received a relatively low lottery number, chose an office only steps away from that of Pelosi. Activists that day demanded Pelosi work towards a "Green New Deal", a climate change and green jobs plan of action that is supported by Ocasio-Cortez.

"We dig deep and we did it".

Ocasio-Cortez noted the climate issues they hope to confront cut across communities and "that it is no mistake and no coincidence that when we see the disasters of climate change, you think of things like Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Maria".

And it is true that Ocasio-Cortez easily won the general election on November 6.

Ocasio-Cortez has claimed before that the her party was responsible for the moon landing. She won her district's primary by overcoming Democratic Caucus Chair Joe Crowley.

"Our lives are on the line", Ocasio-Cortez said at the news conference outside the Capitol.
