Fallout 76’s launch is going from bad to worse

The latest tale in the Fallout 76 collector's edition bag continues, this time with a cracker of an bug that users say resulted in their seeing other people's support tickets.

Multiple users on the official Bethesda forums, subreddits and social media, raised the red flag earlier this morning over a curious quirk in Bethesda's support system. The issue has since been resolved according to a Bethesda representative.

The information leak seems to be mostly confined to the information of those requesting the canvas bag that was left out of the Fallout 76 Power Armor Edition. As I pointed out in a November unboxing article, that bag turned out to be "a cheap, flimsy carrying case", but what I didn't realize at the time was that Bethesda had originally advertised a higher-quality canvas bag as part of the $200 set.

Bethesda has confirmed that they will not be providing patch notes following today's downtime.

Unfortunately, it turns out that the problems were far from over.

The company has since issued a statement on the matter, saying they took down the website and are investigating the incident.

SpaceX launches cargo to space station

If you submitted a support ticket last night, there's a chance you'd be given full access to other people's tickets. This allowed anyone to open and close any tickets and view sensitive customer information, such as home address, credit card information and e-mail addresses. As in all of them - every single support claim filed by every single user of the site, complete with names, addresses, and other personally identifiable information.

Bethesda has yet to comment on exactly how this happened or what the implications are. Bethesda is going to have some serious explaining to do.
