Huawei has confirmed that the device is called the Nova 4 on Weibo and it is expected to launch on 17 December 2018. The upcoming Samsung smartphone in the Galaxy A series is the Galaxy A8s and the device is expected to be launched on 10th December which is only a week later. Samsung too is suspected to release its phone during December and in all probability will directly compete with Huawei Nova 4. Other than Huawei and Samsung, it seems that Lenovo may also introduce a smartphone with a similar design which features a front circular camera cutout.
A Samsung filing reveals (image above) how a smartwatch could feature an in-display camera, as well as an in-display biometric component for either the fingerprint or iris scanner. A 3,400mAh non-removable battery is also rumored, and it will be interesting to see what version of Android will ship on the phone, will it be Android 8.1 Oreo, or Android 9 Pie with Samsung's all-new One UI skin. The bottom bezel is also trimmed down and when compared to older iterations, the Galaxy A8s is a unique-looking phone.
The device is believed to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 processor with up to 6GB of RAM.
The Galaxy A8s is slated for an early January release in China. The rear will host a triple rear camera system consisting of a 25MP + 5MP + 10MP sensors, while the front will host a 24MP selfie sensor placed in a display hole.
