Ecuador says United Kingdom has given enough guarantees for Assange to leave embassy

Ecuador's president said Britain had guaranteed that Assange would not be extradited

Ecuador's president said Britain had guaranteed that Assange would not be extradited

The whistleblower has been under investigation by the Justice Department since 2010 after WikiLeaks released classified reports on the war in Afghanistan.

Moreno didn't say he would force Assange out, but said Assange's legal team is considering its next steps.

Ecuador's president has ramped up pressure on Julian Assange to leave his country's embassy in London, saying Britain has provided sufficient guarantees that the WikiLeaks founder won't be extradited to face the death penalty overseas.

"Since such charges appear to have been brought against Mr Assange in the United States, Ecuador should continue to provide him asylum".

Another is that startled eels get stuck there while attempting to flee the seals as the predators forage for food beneath rocks. Once revealed the seal was in good health, social media users couldn't help but poke a little fun at the "rebel" sea creature.

Moreno said he would prefer Assange hand himself over because of the cost Ecuador is paying after granting him asylum as well as for his own good.

"There is a path for Mr Assange to take the decision to exit into near freedom", Moreno said in a local radio interview. The investigation was later dropped, but the UK Government said he will be arrested if he leaves the embassy.

The WikiLeaks founder has been living under asylum at the embassy since 2012.

"We will protect Mr. Assange's rights - this is why we are looking for a solution, but this needs to be an agreed solution", he said. Mr Assange fears being charged by the U.S. for his part in leaking sensitive government information.

George H.W. Bush's funeral, memorial services being set
Bush (41) on Friday, President Donald Trump (45) has announced that federal agencies will be closed on December 5. The church will also hold a second memorial service for the former president at 11 a.m.

Moreno said Assange did not need to fear he would be transferred to a country where he could face the death penalty: "According to the British government, they would never extradite a person to a country where his life is at risk".

Ecuador also issues a nine-page memo which informed Assange that he must refrain from making political statements and clean the bathroom in the embassy.

However, the United Kingdom has reportedly told Ecuador that his jail time for skipping bail would not exceed six months.

Assange in turn sued, saying his rights as an Ecuadorian - he was granted citizenship previous year as part of an apparent attempt to name him a diplomat and ferry him to Russian Federation - were being violated.
