Carlos Caicedo, the father of missing Carla Stefaniak, arrived in Costa Rica Monday night to verify if the body found on Monday is his daughter.

Tuesday afternoon, officials announced that the body appears to be Stefaniak, though they were waiting on fingerprint information to confirm.

Shortly after, during a FaceTime call with a friend, Stefaniak said that she was thirsty and considered asking security guards at the Airbnb if they could buy her some water, according to the timeline.

Burton told CNN the two were in Costa Rica to celebrate Stefaniak's birthday, and had traveled together for six days.

Authorities in Costa Rica said Tuesday (Monday NZT) they found what appears to be the body of the missing Hallandale Beach woman.

Espinoza said the missing persons report led them to search the apartment in the San Antonio de Escazu neighbourhood, where they found "biological fluids. that are compatible with blood".

Stefaniak's brother flew to Costa Rica last Friday to search for her.

The last time her family heard from her was the night of November 27 when she texted her sister-in-law that the lights were going on and off.

Stefaniak was supposed to return home from her birthday trip on Wednesday. It was discovered partially buried in plastic bags in a mountainous area.

Friends said she sent photos of herself out on the town and she bought a purse and earrings.

South Florida private investigator Wayne Black said he was contacted by Stefaniak's family after her disappearance. "May God bless her soul", the Facebook page for Stefaniak stated. Jaime gave this account of the missing woman's last hours: Stefaniak made a phone call the night of November 27.

Espinoza said the images in the video did not align with statements made by the building's security guard, a 32-year-old Nicaraguan who police detained for further questioning. "We know she was abducted. And then she left", he said.

Stefaniak's co-workers said she was an excellent employee who could get along with anyone. Stefaniak had also checked into the flight, Jaime said, which she always did. Airbnb told CBS News it has no comment, and Uber said it will assist local authorities.

"Six o'clock, still haven't heard from her", Burton said.

The night prior to her flight, Stefaniak took an Uber ride around the town and was dropped off at her Airbnb.
