Carlos Caicedo, the father of missing Carla Stefaniak, arrived in Costa Rica Monday night to verify if the body found on Monday is his daughter.
Tuesday afternoon, officials announced that the body appears to be Stefaniak, though they were waiting on fingerprint information to confirm.
Shortly after, during a FaceTime call with a friend, Stefaniak said that she was thirsty and considered asking security guards at the Airbnb if they could buy her some water, according to the timeline.
Burton told CNN the two were in Costa Rica to celebrate Stefaniak's birthday, and had traveled together for six days.
Authorities in Costa Rica said Tuesday (Monday NZT) they found what appears to be the body of the missing Hallandale Beach woman.

Espinoza said the missing persons report led them to search the apartment in the San Antonio de Escazu neighbourhood, where they found "biological fluids. that are compatible with blood".
Stefaniak's brother flew to Costa Rica last Friday to search for her.
The last time her family heard from her was the night of November 27 when she texted her sister-in-law that the lights were going on and off.
Stefaniak was supposed to return home from her birthday trip on Wednesday. It was discovered partially buried in plastic bags in a mountainous area.
Friends said she sent photos of herself out on the town and she bought a purse and earrings.
