The magistrates reached the decision in fear of protestors disrupting peace if Kedarnath gets released in cinemas across the Indian state of Uttarakhand.
According to a Times Of Indiareport, the Uttarakhand high court said, "Don't see the movie if you don't like it".
Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat chaired a meeting on Thursday evening after a committee headed by Maharaj submitted a report and decided not to officially ban the movie, reported Outlook. The committee decided not to ban the film after examining closely all objections raised.
The District Magistrates have chose to not allow the release.
As per early estimates, Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan starrer Kedarnath will collect Rs 3 - 5 Crores at the box office approximately. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Ashok Kumar said the film has been banned in seven districts, reported PTI.
The movie, that marks Saif Ali Khan's daughter Sara Ali Khan's debut in the Hindi film fraternity, released Friday. "Since there is no star like Salman, Shah Rukh or Ranbir who can draw the audience on face value, it's a film which is as good as its content".
