This is What Mars Sounds Like, Courtesy of NASA InSight

InSight is designed to study the interior of Mars like never before using seismology instruments to detect quakes and a self-hammering mole to measure heat escape from the planet's crust

"It's going to become very hard to hear the sounds from the outside of Mars later on".

The wind is estimated to be blowing 16 kph to 24 kph. The craft will stay put until November 24, 2020, measuring quakes that happen anywhere on Mars. On Friday, NASA released audio of the Martian wind, the first time sound has been recorded on another planet's surface. These are the first sounds from Mars that are detectible by human ears, according to the researchers. Until then, the team plans to record more wind noise. You may need to put on earphones or crank up your subwoofer to hear what's going on in the first video, which is made up of raw data from the seismometer. Because wind gusts can trick the seismometer, the lander is equipped with an air pressure sensor to isolate that background noise.

The NASA InSight lander, which is supported by the UK Space Agency, has recorded a haunting, low rumble caused by vibrations from the wind. So, NASA also provided a version of the recording shifted up in pitch, which pulls some of the otherwise-inaudible infrasound into hearing range.

Missing Florida Woman Found Dead in Costa Rica, Security Guard Arrested
Authorities in Costa Rica said Tuesday (Monday NZT) they found what appears to be the body of the missing Hallandale Beach woman. Burton told CNN the two were in Costa Rica to celebrate Stefaniak's birthday, and had traveled together for six days.

"Capturing this audio was an unplanned treat", InSight principal investigator Bruce Banerdt said.

"We're all still on a high from the landing last week. and here we are less than two weeks after landing, and we've already got some wonderful new science", said NASA's Lori Glaze, acting director of planetary science. The seismometer recorded lander vibrations caused by the wind moving over the spacecraft's solar panels, which are each 7 feet (2.2 meters) in diameter and stick out from the sides of the lander like a giant pair of ears.

Astronauts blast off for first time since aborted mission
It is reported by Roscosmos on Monday, December 3, reports the Chronicle.info with reference to the Correspondent. That's when a rocket failure forced the Soyuz capsule carrying two astronauts to make an emergency landing.

Two very sensitive sensors on the spacecraft detected these wind vibrations: an air pressure sensor inside the lander and a seismometer sitting on the lander's deck, awaiting deployment by InSight's robotic arm.

An upcoming mission, the Mars 2020 rover, will have two microphones on board for clearer sound recording. One is set to record the sound of landing on the Red Planet and the other will listen for the sounds made by a laser used to investigate materials on the surface.
