But, Piers Morgan was not entirely happy when the high street bakery launched a vegan version.

The decision came after a petition by animal welfare group PETA was launched previous year calling on Greggs to provide a vegan version of the product, of which 1.5 million are sold every week. The company sells 1.5m traditional pork sausage rolls a week.

Greggs has around 1,850 stores across the UK.

The plant-based savoury pastries have flown off shelves since Greggs first released them on Thursday morning, and they've been a massive hit with most customers.
