The new Alien game, Blackout, is a mobile joint

07 January 2019, 08:56 | Casey Mitchell

It's being made by American developer Cold Iron, who are staffed by many ex-members of MMO developer Cryptic Studios and who describe it as a "new PC and console shooter based on the Alien franchise".

Although it's possible the new game could ignore this entirely you would've thought using the same character means it is going to be a continuation of some sort.

China upbeat ahead of United States trade talks, but differences large
Top energy and agriculture officials from the USA are part of the delegation attending meetings in Beijing Monday and Tuesday. Some manufacturers that serve the United States have shifted production to other countries to avoid Trump's tariffs.

Today, Variety revealed that Alien: Blackout had appeared on publisher D3 Go!'s website.

Alien: Blackout may not be the game any of us wanted, but at least there will be a continuation of Amanda Ripley's story.

Netflix Wants You To Watch Bird Box, But NEVER Drive Blindfolded
As Bergholtz wrote in his post, "I actually really liked the movie and think it was better off NOT showing the makeup". Kudos to the director for sticking to her guns on that one .

Apparently, you just can't keep a good biomechanical Xenomorph monster down as today, we got the first details on Alien: Blackout, an upcoming mobile game coming to Android (and iOS) devices on January 24. Unlike in Isolation, where the majority of the game was tracking down what had happened with Ellen Ripley. "Try to stay alive while trapped aboard a crippled Weyland-Yutani space station carrying a deadly Xenomorph as it tirelessly hunts you and the crew".

It's now getting a sequel - and it's a mobile game. The unpredictability of both the mysterious alien and the ultimate fate of the crew will force players to make life or death decisions that permanently alter the outcome of the game. Players will need to survive increasingly challenging, fear-inducing levels by balancing the controls of the space station's emergency systems to skillfully guide their crew to safety and avoid encounters with the enemy. However, there's not very much we can pull from the trailer.

Special North Korean train enters China - Yonhap
Trump said there's "very good dialogue" between the USA and North Korea despite the recent stalemate in denuclearization talks. On Wednesday, Trump said he received "a great letter" from Kim, though he did not reveal the content.

While I'm always willing to give something a shot, seeing an incredibly atmospheric concept like this (especially after the fantastic Isolation already proved the idea works) on a mobile device is troubling. At the same time, it's too early to write the game off just yet - I'll reserve my judgment when I am able to get my hands on the title.
