Eccentric Japanese billionaire earns retweet world record with $92mn giveaway

The most retweeted tweet of all time now belongs to Yusaku Maezawa, a Japanese billionaire behind the e-commerce company Zozotown.
The post comes from a Japanese billionaire who offered to split 100 million yen (£726,000) between a group of those who chose to share his message on Twitter.
That puts it ahead of Carter Wilkerson, the Nevada teenager who was hoping for a year's supply of Wendy's chicken nuggets (3.5 million retweets), and Ellen DeGeneres' celeb-packed selfie from the 2014 Oscars (3.3 million).
He looks set to become one of the first people to visit space as a tourist on board Elon Musk's SpaceX Big Falcon Rocket, which is scheduled for take-off in 2023. Musk didn't reveal how much the trip would cost, but said it was "not a trivial amount" and that Maezawa had already put down a hefty deposit. His message has been retweeted more than 5.6 million times.
After it was announced that his tweet was the most retweeted ever, Mr Maezawa took to the social media channel to thank people for participating and to announce that his prize was still up for grabs.
But Mr Maezawa was offering some incentive to people to share his post.
The previous record holder for retweets was a college student in the USA whose goal was to get a year's free supply of chicken nuggets from the Wendy's fast-food franchise, according to Statista.
The eccentric founder of Zozo Inc., originally a drummer in a punk band, promised to give out 100 million yen ($925,000) in cash prizes to a lucky 100 participants in his Twitter lottery, which he launched ostensibly in celebration of his company's successful spring sale.
Mr Maezawa's sharp rise to top spot means former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson moves into fourth position with his 2011 tweet to Harry Styles.
Initially, Mr Wilkerson was told by Wendy's he would need 18 million retweets to win the prize, however they still gave him the nuggets and made a $US100,000 donation in his name even though he fell a long way short of their target. That post had 3.58 million retweets and 990,000 likes.
Maezawa has more than 6 million followers on Twitter.

Clemson redshirts and coaches at Media Day
I've had my doubts all season that Alabama was the clear-cut No. 1 team over Clemson, and this is the Tigers' chance to prove it. ESPN will have live broadcasts of the game on four of its channels, including its ESPN Megacast on ESPN.

John Legend was one of few male musicians to feature in the documentary. It is unclear if it was deleted by the social media platform. Kelly has referred so far, no comments to the documentation.
