Djokovic, Federer on opposite sides of Australian Open draw

Roger Federer understands the game like no other says Stefan Edberg

The Swiss six-time Australian champion, who beat Marin Cilic in last year's final, could meet the Croat again in the quarter-finals, should he come through a potentially tricky fourth-round tie against Greek prospect Stefanos Tsitsipas.

Top seed Novak Djokovic, who like Federer is bidding for a record seventh title in Melbourne, will take on a qualifier.

Andy Murray suffered a blow ahead of the Australian Open when he ended a practice match with Novak Djokovic early after winning just two games.

Marco Rubio: Rashida Tlaib's Dual Loyality Suggestion 'anti-Semitic'
Democrats have refused to budge on Trump's demand, despite talks throughout the weekend aimed at reopening the government. Tlaid said the act is "literally an attack on our Constitution".

Should Djokovic, a six-time victor at Melbourne Park, beat an as-yet-unknown qualifier, he could face wildcard Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the next match, with Denis Shapovalov a possible third-round opponent and Kei Nishikori potentially awaiting in the last eight.

Alex de Minaur, the only Australian men's seed in the draw at number 27, opens against Pedro Sousa, while other prominent first-round matchups for the locals include John Millman against Federico Delbonis, and Nick Kyrgios in a mouth-watering encounter against big-serving Canadian Milos Raonic, the 16th seed.

"I always enjoy my matches against him", 20-time grand slam victor Federer said at the draw.

On the women's side, all eyes will be on Serena Williams as she aims for Grand Slam number 24.

Playing at Melbourne Park for the first time since 2017 and a year on from hip surgery, Murray called time after 49 minutes as the current world No.1 Djokovic led 6-1 4-1.

"I can't believe it's been a year already", Dane Wozniacki said at the draw ceremony.

Apple slashes iPhone production
Apple is having a hard time selling iPhones to the consumers and even with new features, the company is unable to sell them. The bleaker sales outlook, which Apple attributed to weak China demand, triggered a broad sell-off in global stock markets.

Second seed and 2016 champion Angelique Kerber, bidding for a fourth Grand Slam title, will open against Slovenian Polona Hercog, with a possible quarter-final against 2017 U.S. Open victor Sloane Stephens in the second week.
