Suspected gunman in Jazmine Barnes murder has lengthy criminal history

Harris County Sheriff's Office in Houston shows Larry D. Woodruffe. The Harris County Sheriff's Office said the 24-year-old Woodruffe was charged Tuesday Jan. 8 2019 with capital murder in the Dec. 30 slaying of 7-y

Larry Woodruffe, 24, was charged Tuesday in connection with Barnes' death on December 30, the Harris County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

Jazmine's mother, LaPorsha Washington, opened the funeral by reading a letter - which she said was from her daughter in heaven - to the mourners who filled more than half of the 2,000-person sanctuary of Community of Faith Church in Houston.

Jazmine was killed riding in a auto with her mother and three sisters more than a week ago.

Woodruffe, 24, has been charged with capital murder after the little girl was gunned down in her mother's auto in Houston, Texas as they drove to a grocery store.

Witnesses had described the shooter as a white man driving a red pickup truck, prompting concerns by the family and activists that Jazmine's death was a hate crime.

Woodruffe and Black are not believed to have meant to target Jazmine Barnes and her family and may have thought they were shooting at someone else, the Harris County Sheriff's Office has said.

Adam Gase Hired As Jets Head Coach
Rhule is a native New Yorker, who spent one season as an assistant offensive line coach with the New York Giants in 2012. Gase went 23-25 during his three seasons as head coach of the Dolphins, beating the Jets in five of their six meetings.

Police say the killing arose from a case of mistaken identity and that the family was not deliberately targeted.

Eric Black Jr., 20, was arrested Saturday in a traffic stop for not using his turn signal.

The family was stopped at a red light near a Walmart when shots shattered the vehicle windows, striking Jazmine in the head.

Court records show Woodruffe has a long criminal record, including arrests for assault on a family member, drug possession and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Prosecutors said he confessed to driving the auto from which Jazmine was shot, and a gun found in his home matched the eight shell casings found at the scene.

He claims the second suspect Larry Woodruffe, 24, was the only other person in the auto, and was the one who shot from the passenger side.

Chandler Parsons, Grizzlies Agree To Part Ways
Parsons' troublesome left knee has been medically cleared for him to return to play since December 21. Since signing with the Grizzlies ahead of the 2016-17 season, Parsons has been riddled with injuries.

A sketch drawn up by the Harris County Sheriff's Office, which greatly resembles Cantrell, a white man with blue eyes, was released and then widely circulated by the prominent Black Lives Matter activist, Shaun King, last week.

"When Jazmine Barnes was killed I pledged to find who killed her".

"I just want everyone to like, back off", she told the station. "I know she's smiling down, and God's going to get the glory out of everything". O'Neal and a Houston police officer, Kenneth Miles, brought a cashier's check to the family last week to pay for the funeral.

Houston Texans wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins pledged his National Football League playoff game check to Jazmine's family.

A GoFundMe account set up to help cover funeral costs has raised more than $82,000 from almost 3,000 donors.
