Posting on Facebook, the force said: "The RCMP and DFO (Department of Fisheries and Oceans) remind the general public that it is illegal to disturb marine mammals and although animals of the wild may appear to be friendly in nature, it is very risky to approach or attempt to capture animals without proper equipment". In yet another incident of weird animal invasion, dozens of seals have descended upon the roads and the driveways of the town, creating an unfamiliar experience for the residents.

The town's Mayor Sheila Fitzgerald said there was a growing sense the seals were everywhere.

They've been residents here now for one full week and it looks like they're not going anywhere real fast.

The town's roughly 900 residents have been joined by at least 40 of the spotted gray seals - and they didn't come to see the moose.

This year, he says, limited ocean ice might be forcing the seals to settle for coastal ice, which increases their risk of stranding.

Town council is formally requesting that the Fisheries Department return the animals to the ocean at the edge of the frozen inlet that has trapped the animals in the area.

A seal is shown on a road in Roddickton, Nfld, .in a handout photo.

Having the officers in town is a relief, Fitzgerald said, because they can respond much more quickly when a seal ends up by a home or business, or if one gets on a roadway.

Facility's CEO resigns after vegetative patient gives birth
Every male employee at a private care facility where a patient in a vegetative state gave birth last month is being DNA tested. For example, an investigation in 2013 found that a staff member had made "inappropriate, sexual statements" about four clients.

"It's hard for motorists, and nobody wants to see these little seals hit in our community". They are also known to bite.

The animals seem more lethargic now than when they first arrived in the town, she said, and appear to be travelling further out from the brooks, potentially in search of something to eat.

"There's not enough food in that little water supply", she added.

A spokesperson for the RCMP said officers responded to a complaint Wednesday morning, and on arriving at the scene, they found employees from Department of Fisheries and Oceans were there as well. "However, a seal is a wild animal that should not be approached or touched".
