Manafort Lawyers Accidentally Reveal Trump’s Campaign Chair Shared Polling Data With Alleged Russian Intel Officer
The interview gained new relevance after revelations that former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort reportedly had a Ukrainian-born fixer, Konstantin Kilimnik - who Mueller has said has "ties to a Russian intelligence service" - sharing Trump campaign polling data with two pro-Russian Ukrainian oligarchs.
"This shows that Bob Mueller can demonstrate to a court, without the testimony of Paul Manafort, that the campaign had a connection to Russian intelligence and the connection involved information going from the campaign to the Russians", Napolitano said.
"No, I didn't know anything about it", he told reporters at the White House.
The revelation Manafort, who is now being held in an Alexandria, Virginia, jail, shared the data emerged via a paperwork snafu in a Washington, D.C. court this week.
Manafort is awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to conspiracy against the United States and agreeing to cooperate with US Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into alleged Russian interference in the 2016 contest and possible collusion with trump's campaign. President Trump denies any campaign collusion with Russian Federation.
Manafort's defense team was responding to Mueller's accusations that he lied to the special counsel's investigators about his contacts with Russians during the campaign after pleading guilty a year ago. He entered a plea agreement with special counsel Robert Mueller on September 14, 2018, but prosecutors have since alleged that Manafort has violated the terms of the deal by lying about certain topics.
Led coalition: American withdrawal from Syria has begun
Turkey considers America's Kurdish allies of the YPG militia - who were vital in the ground war against ISIS - a terrorist group. Mr Trump initially signalled a rapid withdrawal from Syria and USA officials said they expected troops to be out with 30 days.
Manafort already faces lengthy prison sentences for charges brought by Mueller's office in Virginia and Washington, D.C.
Rudy Giuliani, a lawyer for Trump who has repeatedly criticized the Mueller probe as a fruitless "witch hunt", dismissed the sharing of data with Kilimnik as inconsequential.
