Facebook Messenger will finally let you unsend your messages
06 February 2019, 08:09 | Casey Mitchell
We've been anticipating its arrival since November of previous year, and today Facebook has finally begun rolling out an 'unsend' feature for its widely-used messaging service.
FacebookMessenger now lets you unsend or delete messages within individual or group chats, up to 10 minutes after sending them.
"Messenger's time limit to remove a message is created to provide users with more control and flexibility over their messages while also ensuring we prevent abuse of the feature (such as sending and removing harmful messages)", a spokesperson for Messenger said in a statement. So, if you were hoping to clear out your cringeworthy chat history from years back, you're going to be out of luck.
Users can delete the message just on their end or "for everyone".
Just like in WhatsApp, a new option has surfaced in FacebookMessenger which will allow you to either delete a message for everyone in the thread or just for yourself. Once ten minutes have elapsed, you're stuck with your embarrassing typo-ridden messages forever. Are you stoked to finally be able to delete a message in chat-from everyone's view? The latter option will function in the same way the current Delete option works.
Facebook first started rolling out the feature on a smaller scale last fall, testing it out among Android users in Poland, Bolivia, Colombia and Lithuania. Or worse: we accidentally send an embarrassing message to the wrong person.
Thousands protest in Paris against police violence
Chanting anti-government slogans, they were heading toward the Place de la République , in the northeast of the city center. The package, estimated at 10 billion euros ($11.46 billion), includes a 100-euro monthly increase to the minimum wage.
A 'tombstone, ' or a line of text confirming the message was deleted, will then appear in the chat.
After its discovery, Facebook pledged to make a version of the feature available to all.
