Enes Kanter's tumultuous time with the New York Knicks has come to an end.

Fizdale has prioritized playing and developing younger Knicks in recent weeks, which meant that second-year center Luke Kornet and Mitchell Robinson would play ahead of Kanter.

The Knicks have been trying to move Kanter for a few weeks, but his contract made things hard, according to the report.

Amazon reportedly rethinking HQ2 in New York City
Andrew Cuomo framed the original announcement as a tremendous job creation opportunity for the entire New York region. One of the twenty finalists for HQ2 was Newark, New Jersey, just across the border from New York City.

The Knicks made headlines last week when they traded star Kristaps Porzingis to the Dallas Mavericks along with Tim Hardaway Jr. and Courtney Lee.

Kanter said he appreciated the support of the fan base during home games, but acknowledged on Sunday that it was an awkward situation for the Knicks.

Kanter, 26, has played a total of 42 minutes over the past 13 games.

The Houston Rockets were among the playoff teams who had interest in signing Matthews after his buyout, sources said. According to NBA.com, teams were wary of his $18.6 million expiring contract and instead waited for NY to waive him. With head coach David Fizdale focusing on youth, it will be interesting how Jordan fits into New York's plans moving forward.

NY didn't execute any trades before Thursday's deadline.

The center from Turkey was acquired from Oklahoma City in the Carmelo Anthony trade in September 2017 and averaged 14 points and 10.8 rebounds in 115 games over two seasons. Vonleh, a free agent this summer, is having a strong season (8.6 points, 8.5 rebounds per game) in NY.

The Lakers have been strongly linked while the Portland Trail Blazers could also take a chance on the 34-year-old. NY also has roughly $70 million in cap space this summer - enough for two max contracts.
