The artists competed as part of the very first public vote for Australia's representative at the Eurovision - Australia Decides contest on the Gold Coast on Saturday.
The 21-year-old singer from Hartlepool, who also won All Together Now in 2014, was crowned the victor of Eurovision: You Decide and will be singing the track Bigger Than Us at the annual TV song competition.
The expert jury consisted of a Ukrainian singer and songwriter Jamala, the victor of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 for Ukraine;Andriy Danylko, a comedian and also singer, who represented Ukraine in 2007 as a drag artist "Verka Serduchka"; and Yevhen Filatov (The Maneken), a Ukrainian singer and producer, creator of Onuka band.
The singer-songwriter and actress won with 87 points in the popular vote and 48 points from the judges, giving her 135 points overall. "Thanks to everyone who voted, and to all the other artists who provided such a brilliant, eclectic and stiff competition", she said.
Classically trained Kate Miller-Heidke is heading to Tel Aviv to represent Australia at this year's Eurovision after beating out 10 others for the honour.

The three previous Australian entrants all finished in the top 10, with Dami Im finishing second in 2016.
