The sit-down with CBS was the Democratic governor's first television interview since a racist photo in his 1984 medical school yearbook emerged on February 1, prompting leading Democrats to call for Northam's resignation. There's no better person to do that than a doctor.

For instance, see below for video of Northam talking to CBS' Gayle King, and recounting how Virginia's "now at the 400-year anniversary - just 90 miles from here in 1619 - the first indentured servants from Africa landed on our shores".

In spite of calls from him to be 86'd from the political landscape, in his interview with King, which will air on CBS This Morning on Monday- Northam reiterates that he has no plans to resign.

When asked if he thinks Fairfax should step down, Northam said that is a decision the lieutenant governor must make.

A fellow Democrat, state House member Patrick Hope, has said he will introduce articles of impeachment against Fairfax on Monday unless the lieutenant governor resigns.

Another potent winter storm arrives Monday
In Seattle, snowfall from Sunday and Monday lingered into the week as below-freezing temperatures gripped the area. The National Weather Service is calling for 5 to 8 inches of snow in the areas covered by the Winter Storm Watch .

Attorneys Debra S. Katz and Lisa J. Banks released the statement Saturday night on behalf of Vanessa Tyson, a California college professor, who said Lt. Gov. Justin Fairfax forced her to perform oral sex on him at a Boston hotel in 2004. A spokeswoman said in a statement, "The Lt. Governor is aggressively exploring options for a thorough, independent, and impartial investigation of these allegations".

"We hope, for example, that the Federal Bureau of Investigation will show a willingness to investigate", the spokeswoman, Lauren Burke, said in a statement.

"I believe and trust that due process will provide the fairness, justice and honesty that is necessary", Fairfax said in a statement on Saturday.

Attorney General Mark Herring, Mr Northam's deputy, has acknowledged wearing "brown make-up" to a party when he was 19.

Although the Democratic Party has taken nearly a zero-tolerance approach to misconduct among its members in this #MeToo era, a housecleaning in Virginia could be costly to them: If all three Democrats resigned, Republican House Speaker Kirk Cox would become governor.

Germany to keep final say on Russian Federation pipeline
In November 2017, the EC proposed extending European Union energy rules to gas pipelines from third countries to Europe. Former German chancellor Gerhard Schroeder is chairman of Nord Stream's shareholders committee.

Gov. Ralph Northam tells @GayleKing: "I have thought about resigning, but I've also thought about what Virginia needs right now". On Friday, Watson also came forward, alleging that he assaulted her when they were university students in 2000.

He's denied being in the photo but has admitted to wearing blackface as part of a Michael Jackson costume that same year. Fairfax has asked the FBI to investigate the assault claims against him. "I really think where we are now, we need to get to the truth".

Northam, 59, said he wants to spend the remaining three years of his term trying to ensure that black Virginians have the same opportunities as whites. "There are still some very deep wounds in Virginia, and especially in the area of equity".

Northam has been in seclusion all week, using tunnels to shuttle between the mansion and the nearby building where he has an office.
