Best new artist Alessia Cara was the only woman to receive her own award during the telecast, and Lorde, the sole woman to earn an album of the year nomination, was not invited to perform her own music.

Grammy organizers this year expanded the top four categories - album, record, song of the year, and best new artist - to eight nominees from five in a bid to diversify the contest.

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's hit "Shallow" from A Star Is Born picked up the 2019 Grammy Award for best song written for visual media at this year's ceremony. Falguni "Falu" Shah is nominated in Best Children's Album category for her album Falu's Bazaar, Snatam Kaur Khalsa is nominated in New Age Album category for his album Beloved and Prashant Mistry (Engine-Earz Experiment) is nominated in Best Immersive Audio Album category for his album Symbol.

LIVE from the GRAMMYs red carpet in Los Angeles, host Tracy Moore chats with the night's biggest artists and nominees while music correspondent Devo Brown and fashion correspondent Lauren Howe break down the night's hottest tracks and looks. Red carpet arrivals and interviews will be broadcast live starting at 2 p.m. PT. As far as performers go, fans of Ariana Grande might be disappointed to learn that she dropped out of the ceremony.

Elizabeth Warren Announces She is Running for President in 2020
When she was 12, her 50-year-old father suffered a near fatal heart attack and their family almost lost their home. Despite such criticism, several MA lawmakers joined Warren for her Lawrence 2020 campaign launch, including U.S.

When asked soon after the show about the lack of female winners, academy president Neil Portnow said women needed to "step up" - now-infamous words that instantly drew outrage, and which he said were taken out of context.

"I don't think you can say anyone is a front-runner", said Melinda Newman, West Coast editor of Billboard magazine.

The lead-up to this year's Grammys has not been completely smooth, though.

"I've kept my mouth shut but now you're lying about me", she tweeted. This year's award ceremony will be hosted by 15-time Grammy victor Alicia Keys and this will be her first time hosting the ceremony.

Last Five Years are the Warmest since 1880
With global emissions rising for the second year in a row, this disastrous trend shows no signs of changing any time soon. But consider the context: The hottest five years on record are, in fact, the last five years.

The Grammy Premiere Ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. PT, with host Shaggy leading the festivities, and presenters like Questlove handing out the first Grammy Awards.

Grande is nominated for two awards and could miss the chance of giving a speech onstage if she wins. Taylor Swift, who was snubbed and one scored one nomination, also won't be at the show.

Drama has also surrounded the Grammys around its Motown Records tribute: Some people complained when a promo aired on CBS showing Jennifer Lopez as the act set to honor the legendary record label, which launched the careers of the Jackson 5, the Supremes, Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye and more.

Gaga, now an eight-time Grammy victor, won best pop solo performance for "Joanne", while her hit "Shallow" was named best song written for visual media.
