Sen. Dianne Feinstein Clashes With Children Over the Green New Deal

‘You didn’t vote for me’: U.S. Democratic senator has testy visit with schoolkids over Green New Deal
A group of schoolkids and adults tried to boss around Sen.
In another portion of the video, Feinstein is heard telling the kids that she's "trying to do the best" that she can, "which was to write a responsible resolution".
But the now-viral encounter, captured on video, exposes other problems as well. Dianne Feinstein and a group of visiting children and adolescents expressing their support for the Green New Deal has gone viral. Upon learning she was under 18, Feinstein stated, "Well, you didn't vote for me".
"You know what? I don't care anymore". Feinstein described it as a "spirited discussion" and said she wanted the children to know "they were heard loud and clear".
"You come in here, and you say it has to be my way or the highway", Feinstein says to the group in the video, taken inside her San Francisco office Friday morning. "I've gotten elected, I just ran". "I was elected by nearly a million-vote plurality, and I know what I'm doing".
"We're the people who voted for you, you're supposed to listen to us", a teen activist said.
And after the awkward encounter, the group shared a clip of the exchange on its Twitter page Friday, as Fox News and other outlets also noted. This is a fight for our generation's survival. Kids of today are voters tomorrow and they have good memories.
Then the senator went on to explain why she "can't support" the green deal proposed by NY freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
"Like I just introduced Green New Deal two weeks ago and it's created creating all of this conversation. Why?"
"How old are you?"
As the kids continue to push back at her, urging her to vote "yes" on the Green New Deal even if it is unlikely to pass, Feinstein becomes visibly frustrated and starts to talk over the group.
I am disgusted and disappointed in Senator Feinstein's response to these children who are rightfully and genuinely concerned about their future under climate change.
Feinstein subsequently had copies of the resolution that she supports handed out to the activists in the room.
When the students told her "some scientists say we have 12 years to turn this around", Feinstein answered "Well it's not going to get turned around in 10 years".
"When your #GreenNewDeal legislation is so strong that the GOP has to resort to circulating false versions, but the real one nets 70 House cosponsors on Day 1 and all Dem presidential candidates sign on anyway", Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. Feinstein responded. "Then you can do it your way". Toward the end of the longer video, the senator is seen speaking with one of the students about a potential internship opportunity.
